Our Story

Our family's history in  construction and wood working dates back  to the mid 1800s with our great great grandfather Arthur Napoleon Huggins building commercial buildings in Florida. With 7 generations in the State of Florida, our roots are deep here.  Fast forward to the 1940s JC Huggins, son  of Arthur Napoleon Huggins, contracted with the US Army to build personnel and military wood structures around the state during World War II. He became a successful general contractor, master finish carpenter and cabinet builder in the Central Florida area. As Quoted by W.A. McCree Jr. in the book (The Hammer & The Pencil) "Joe (JC Huggins) - a finer trim carpenter there was not".

The family tradition continued into the next generation as his son Robert A. Huggins grew up as a young boy working with his father on job sites and projects learning all aspects on building, construction and also became a successful  General Contractor completing over 1700 projects consisting of new construction and building renovation. Some of his career customers were 7-11, Sonny's BBQ, Waffle House, Many bank locations, strip centers, residences for Disney Executives along with many of the souvenir and Resort properties in the Disney corridor. He also followed in his father's passion for fine finish carpentry and became a master wood worker and finish carpenter.

The current generations have been passed the torch and want to continue the legacy and improve on it for the coming generations to carry on. Joseph Kirt Huggins  son of Robert A. Huggins grew up the same way as his father on job sites and in the cabinet shop from the age of 5 learn all aspects the the building trade. After graduating college he worked in the general contracting business in estimating and scheduling. At the age of 26 he ventured out on his own building his first speck house going on to complete over 350 projects as a builder and developer. Fast forward to 2014 he decided to venture into the subcontracting side of the business starting a fine finish and cabinetry company. in 2018 his son Colby A. Huggins came on board to learn and master the fine finish side of the business. Together they have a combined 40+ years of experience in building, finish carpentry, cabinetry and fine finishes. They have what it takes to make MODA Industries (MODA Cabinetry) a proud continuation of there ancestral skills and accomplishments.
